| The
businesses on this page are Green Certified
by the Green Cedar Valley Initiative.
They are taking steps to reduce their
carbon footprint, promote green practices
and encourage healthy living. The Cedar
Valley is proud to be home to these
businesses that are making a difference
to the environment and to the health
of the Cedar Valley.
Businesses
are assessed in ten different areas:
1. Communication: Internal & External
2. Community Impact
3. Buying & Inventory Management
4. Personal Health & Wellness
5. Air Quality Management
6. Outdoor/Landscape Management
7. Transportation & Emissions Management
8. Water & Wastewater Management
9. Energy Management & Conservation
10. Waste Management & Recycling
To
be certified, a business must show
efforts in seven of the ten categories
and earn a minimum of 40 points. There are four levels of Green Certification to recognize the degree to which a business is currently engaged in sustainable practices: Bronze (40-74 Points), Silver (75-109 Points), Gold (110-144 Points) and Platinum (145+ Points). Certification
must be renewed each calendar year.
See ‘Getting Certified’
page for more details on the program and
